YES On 802 Responds to Governor’s Veto of his Own Medicaid Expansion Plan

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK –  Yes On 802 Campaign Manager Amber England issued the following statement in response to Governor Stitt’s veto of his own Medicaid Expansion Plan:

“The Governor’s veto of his own plan to expand Medicaid is just further proof why it’s time for voters to decide this issue for themselves.

“Politicians simply can’t be trusted. They’ve been playing political games for almost a decade with this issue and, as a result, we’ve left billions of our own tax dollars in Washington DC that could have come home to boost our economy, protect jobs and provide healthcare to hardworking Oklahomans that need it.

“Now more than ever, it’s time to bring those tax dollars home. On June 30th voters have the opportunity to do what politicians have failed to do for far too long—provide access to healthcare to nearly 200,000 Oklahomans, save rural hospitals and bring more than a billion dollars home from Washington every single year to invest in our communities.

“Our time is now to let the people decide.”

The Yes On 802 campaign worked over the summer and fall of 2019 gathering signatures to put Medicaid expansion on the ballot in 2020. After submitting a record-breaking number of signatures, the Governor placed State Question 802 on the June 30th primary ballot.  State Question 802 is supported by a coalition of Oklahoma nurses, doctors, patients, small business owners, non-profit organizations, healthcare advocates, hospitals, public safety advocates, teachers, and Oklahoma families.
